SMA Artist-in-Residence Lecture, Storm Tharp
Storm Tharp works and lives in Portland, where he creates the characters in his mysterious paintings. He was raised in Ontario, OR and attended Cornell University, graduating from the College of Architecture, Art and Urban Planning in 1992. He is a painter and sculptor whose work has been acquired by various public collections including The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Albight Knox Gallery and The Cleveland Art Museum. In 2010, Storm participated in The Whitney Biennial and in 2013, a mid-career survey of his work was presented at The Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, NY. He is represented by PDX Contemporary Art and Galerie Sébastian Bertrand.
