February 24, 2018  2 p.m.  Black Box Theatre, SOU Theater Building

475 University Way, Ashland OR 97520

The Oregon Center for the Arts will present the play She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen in the Black Box theatre of the newly remodeled theatre building at SOU (February 15-17 and 22-25, 2018).

There will be a post-play discussion following the 2:00 p.m. matinee performance on February 24. A panel of theatre faculty and student actors, designers, and technicians will participate. Post play discussion is free for ticket holders of the Feb 24 2pm performance.

The play recounts the story of a young woman who stumbles upon her dead sister’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook and finds herself improbably transported into a live-action version of the D & D world, where she must do battle with all manner of frightful monsters–some of her own making. Through her immersion in this high-octane fantasy, she must confront the truth of her sister’s life, as well as her own. The play asks us to consider the many ways we find truth in fiction.
