Cassatt String Quartet
Saturday, October 6th at 3:00 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall
Formed in 1985 with the encouragement of the Juilliard Quartet and named for the celebrated American impressionist painter Mary Cassatt, the Cassatt Quartet is acclaimed as one of America’s outstanding ensembles. The New York City-based group has performed throughout North America, Europe, and the Far East, with appearances at New York’s Alice Tully Hall and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood Music Theater, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Theatre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Centro National de las Artes in Mexico City, Maeda Hall in Tokyo, and Beijing Central Conservatory in China. At the Library of Congress, the Cassatt performed on the library’s matched quartet of Stradivarius instruments and performed the complete Beethoven Quartet cycle three times at University at Buffalo.
