Cast election day and midterm worries aside for MUSIX Rock Concert!
When midterms are causing stress, there’s nothing better than letting loose and rocking out to SOU’s student-written and performed band from the Music Industry & Production Studies program., MUSIX! They have been working hard this term to bring an electric performance on November 5th at 7:30 PM in the SOU Recital Hall, showcasing a wide range of genres for all to hear: rock, pop, shoegaze, blues, R&B, and more! This concert is completely free and open to the public—no tickets necessary!—so come have some fun on the 5th!
Larry Smith, the director of this term’s MUSIX, has been captivated and inspired by the positive attitudes and energy from students this term. “ I have really enjoyed seeing the students collaborating and working together,” Smith says. “It’s been wonderful to see them all so driven to write and play their songs and give them guidance along the way.” Each song at the concert is totally unique and written by students, each with its own message and voice. With this in mind, Smith says that audiences can expect a sandwich of energetic songs on the 5th, explaining that “ We hit hard from the top of the show, get into some lighter songs then come back hitting hard the way out of the set.”
The students in MUSIX have been working hard together on the pieces for this concert, so it’s bound to be a high-energy, exciting, and overall fun night on the 5th. Some eye-catching songs from the program include: “Asphalt Sea,” “Una Promesa,” “93rd Out the Rest,” and “Philanthropic Concerns.” These are only a few of the songs that will be performed so it will definitely be worth it to hear what these and the others are about! Again, this concert is absolutely free, so come rock out with MUSIX on Tuesday, November 5th at 7:30PM at the SOU Recital Hall for their Musical Harvest!
